21-Yr-Old Woman Caught Dumping New Born Baby In Kubwa

Residence of Kubwa area in Abuja were stun as a 21-year-old woman was caught while trying to dump her baby few minutes after she had given birth. The incident which happened during the weekend at the popular Pipeline area of kubwa village was reported to the Police.

A source who gave his name as Musa Ibrahim said a neighbour sighted the woman and apprehended her while she was trying to dump the newly born baby.

“The woman said she came from Dutse Alhaji where she lives with her uncle. The woman was shaken and still bleeding,” the resident said.  

It was also discovered that they were blood stains at the entrance of a barbing salon, where she allegedly gave birth around 3 am.

Sources at the Kubwa police division revealed that the woman and her baby were taken to Kubwa General Hospital for attention.

At the hospital, a nurse in the labour ward informed that the lady was brought in with the placenta still in her body and that the baby was born premature.

She said her baby (a female) needs to remain in the incubator because she was born premature. The nurse said though the cause of her premature delivery has not been established, in her case, taking abortion substances could be responsible.

The nurse said efforts were on, to reach out to the FCT social welfare to seek assistance for the woman and her baby.

The police and the hospital management are also working hard to locate the relatives of the woman to settle her medical bills.

When contacted, FCT police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent Hyelhira Altine Daniel, confirmed the incident, saying the woman and her baby were taken to Kubwa General Hospital for attention.
